2022年12月に東京・原宿で大好評を得て終了したクイーン（QUEEN）のコンセプトポップアップストア、「QUEEN THE GREATEST POP-UP STORE」が、関西で初となる京都で開催されることとなった。

当ストアは1975年4月の初日本ツアーから現在に至るまで、クイーン（QUEEN）と日本が築いてきた深い絆をコンセプトとし、バンド結成50周年を記念して開催されているポップアップストアとなる。

昨年東京で開催された当ストアが今年、5月20日(土)〜6月4日(日)の期間限定で、京都の新たなランドマークとなる複合商業施設「新風館」にて開催されることが決定した。多くのファンの方々からのリクエストを受け、実現することとなった。

2021年から2022年にかけてロンドン・カーナビーストリートで開催されたQUEENオフィシャルポップアップストア「QUEEN THE GREATEST POP-UP STORE」のスピンオフとなる本企画は、今回が関西初上陸となり、世界的にもロンドン、東京の開催に次ぐ三都市目の開催となる。

1975年に初の日本ツアーを行ったあと繰り返し日本を訪れ、当時の外国人アーティストとしてはめずらしく、札幌・仙台や山口等でも精力的に公演を行った。クイーンのギタリストであるブライアン・メイが、日本のファンへ向けて日本語歌詞を入れた「Teo Torriatte (Let Us Cling Together)）」（「手をとりあって」）を書きおろしたり、フレディ・マーキュリーが来日の際に、各地で日本の伝統品を収集したり、ロンドンの自宅に日本庭園を造ったという話しは、よく知られるところである。

そのようにして、クイーン（QUEEN）と日本のファンとの深い関係性は長らく築かれてきた。本企画はクイーン（QUEEN）と日本の関係性にフォーカスしたものとなっており、当ストアでは来日した際のクイーンメンバーの写真の展示や、「和」をテーマにした様々な商品の販売が行われる。

東京・原宿で展開された写真の展示や商品の販売はもちろんのこと、今回の京都の店舗で初披露となる商品も多数販売される。

関西発、期間限定の開催となるこの機会に、ぜひ足を運んでみて欲しい。

QUEEN’s official pop-up store “QUEEN THE GREATEST POP-UP STORE” will be held in Kyoto for the first time in Kansai from 20 May (Sat) to 4 June (Sun)!

QUEEN THE GREATEST POP-UP STORE’, a concept pop-up store of Queen, which was held in Harajuku, Tokyo, in December 2022, is coming to Kyoto for the first time in the Kansai region.

The store is based on the concept of the deep bond that Queen and Japan have built from their first Japan tour in April 1975 to the present, and is being held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band’s formation.

The store, which was held in Tokyo last year, will be held this year from 20 May (Sat) to 4 June (Sun) at the ‘ShinPuhKan’ multiple commercial complex, a new landmark in Kyoto. This has been made possible following requests from a lot of fans.

This project, a spin-off of the official QUEEN pop-up store ‘QUEEN THE GREATEST POP-UP STORE’ held in Carnaby Street, London from 2021 to 2022, will be the first time it has been held in the Kansai region, and the third city to hold it globally, following London and Tokyo.

After their first tour of Japan in 1975, they visited Japan repeatedly and, unusually for a foreign artist at the time, also performed actively in Sapporo, Sendai, Yamaguchi and other cities. Queen guitarist Brian May wrote ‘Teo Torriatte (Let Us Cling Together)’ (‘Hand in Hand’) with Japanese lyrics for Japanese fans, and Freddie Mercury collected traditional Japanese items in various places during his visits to Japan. The story of Freddie Mercury’s building of a Japanese garden in his London home is well known.

In this way, a deep relationship between Queen and their Japanese fans has long been established. This project focuses on the relationship between Queen and Japan, and the store will display photos of Queen members during their visits to Japan and sell a variety of products with a ‘Japanese’ theme.

As well as the photo exhibition and product sales that took place in Harajuku, Tokyo, the Kyoto shop will also sell a number of new products that will be on display for the first time.

This is a limited-time-only event in the regeon, and we hope you will take the opportunity to visit.
