　”史上最も成功したソングライター”としてギネス・ブックに掲載されているポールにとって、”The 7″ Singles Box”は彼がその栄誉に相応しいことの、これ以上ない証左となるだろう。このボックス・セットには、私たちの人生を彩り、世界中で今なお大切に歌い継がれる楽曲の数々が収められているのである。

　7インチ・シングルというメディアは、ソングライターとして、また一人の音楽ファンとして、ポール・マッカートニーに大きな衝撃と影響を与えてきた。ポール自身による本ボックスの序文には、彼が今でも新たな発見を求めてレコード店の棚を探し回り、その高揚感を楽しんでいることや、彼をはじめとするザ・ビートルズのメンバーがB面曲をとても大切にしていたことなどが綴られている。

　12月2日に発売となる”The 7″ Singles Box”は、ポールのファンにとって究極のパッケージである。1971年の「Another Day」から、2022年のレコード・ストア・デイのソング・オブ・ザ・イヤーに選ばれた「Women And Wives」 (英チャートの首位に達した2020年のアルバム『McCartney III』に収録) まで、本ボックスは80枚ものシングルで構成。その多作ぶりを支える創造性や絶え間ない革新性を、常に発揮し続けてきたポールの50年間を象徴するパッケージに仕上がった。名曲の宝庫と呼ぶに相応しい本ボックスのうち、65枚はオリジナルのB面曲とともに過去のシングルをそのまま再現したもの (11ヶ国盤のアートワークを復刻) 。残る15点は、これまで7インチ・シングルとして市販されたことのない作品で、12インチ・シングルやピクチャー・ディスク、CDのシングルやプロモ盤、デジタル音源、ミュージック・ビデオとして世に出たトラックのほか、2曲の未発表デモ音源や、1曲の未発表7インチ・シングル・エディットなどから新たに製作されたものだ。

　このボックス・セットは、イギリスのダービーシャーで設計／製造された特別仕様の木箱に美しく収納される。その中には80枚のシングルのほかにも、ポール本人による序文や、音楽ジャーナリストのロブ・シェフィールドによるエッセイ、詳細なチャート情報、ライナー・ノート、シングルのアートワークなどを掲載した計148ページのブックレットも同梱。また、ボックス1セットにつき、いずれか1点のシングルのテスト盤 (限定品) がランダムに付属する。
