『The Others』リード・トラック、「The Others」のミュージックビデオが本日よりフル視聴がスタートした。ミュージック・ビデオの監督を務めたのは、アルバム『The Others』のアートワークも手掛けたShane Lester/JKD Collective。アルバム・アートワークから脱け出たような一貫した力強い世界観と、ギター、ビートが完全に一致した映像となっており、その制作における監督からのコメントも到着した。

「The Others」のミュージックビデオを制作するにあたって、核となるテーマは、フォトグラフィーにおける最も基本の要素(光と影、黒と白)だけに限定し、それを最大限に活用することだった。このアプローチは、シンプルだけど強い美学を持ったこの楽曲と、時間的な要素を含めた制作上の制約に対する僕なりの回答でもあった。MIYAVIは一緒に楽しんで、楽に撮影ができる人だった。多分最初のミーティングでは、20分も経たないうちに「よしこのアイディアで行こう」って決めたんじゃないかな。そこから全てがすごい速さで進んでいった。当然のことだけど、彼は卓越した技術と素晴らしいエネルギーを持ったパフォーマーだから、ユニークで方向感覚がわからなくなるような視点でそのエネルギーを切り取ることが狙いだった。

The guiding ethos in the creation The Others music video was to utilize only the most basic elements of photography, (light and shadow, black and white) but to push them to the fullest extent possible. This approach was my response to the simple but strong aesthetic of the song, as well as the time and production constraints. MIYAVI was so easy and fun to work with, from our first meeting about the idea I think it only took 20 minutes to simply say “let.FN”s do this,” and everything moved forward very quickly from there. ItN”s a given that heN”s a virtuoso performer with incredible energy, so it was my intent to capture this energy from a unique and disorienting perspective.
