訃報

チック・コリア氏が、2月9日にがんで逝去されていたことが公式SNSで発表されました。享年79でした。
生前の氏の芸術への多大なる貢献を称えつつ、謹んで哀悼の意を表します。

公式SNSにて公開されたチック・コリア氏のメッセージ：

I want to thank all of those along my journey who have helped keep the music fires burning bright. It is my hope that those who have an inkling to play, write, perform or otherwise, do so. If not for yourself then for the rest of us. It’s not only that the world needs more artists, it’s also just a lot of fun.

And to my amazing musician friends who have been like family to me as long as I’ve known you: It has been a blessing and an honor learning from and playing with all of you. My mission has always been to bring the joy of creating anywhere I could, and to have done so with all the artists that I admire so dearly—this has been the richness of my life.

私の旅路において、音楽の火を明るく燃やし続けてくれた全ての人に感謝します。演奏したい、作曲したい、パフォーマンスしたいと思っている人は、そうしてほしいと願っています。自分のためではなくとも、他の人々のために。世界はより多くのアーティストを必要としているだけではなく、それは単にとても楽しいことなのだから。

そして、知っている限りの、私にとって家族のような存在だった素晴らしいミュージシャンの友人たちへ。皆さんから学び、皆さんと一緒に演奏できたことは幸せであり、名誉なことでした。私の使命は、どこにでも創作の喜びをもたらすこと、そして私が心から尊敬するアーティストたちと一緒にそれを実現すること、これが私の人生の豊かさでした。
